Qigong Meditation and Active Exercises

"Qigong is study of the whole universe, including, chemistry, psychology, biology, astrology, electricity and medicine." This quote, with Master Chunyi Lin, is from the Spring Forest Qigong Level 1 for Health book.

Qi (pronounced Chee) means air or breath or the universal life force. Qigong can heal you physically, mentally, and spiritually. Qigong has been practiced for many thousands of years among the Chinese people and there are many styles of Qigong taught and practiced today. The practice of Qigong can involve meditation and/or active exercises. The practice of Qigong is very simple and very powerful.

Qigong deals with removing energy blockages, and it is these blockages that create problems for us mentally, physically, and spiritually. It is believed that there are six main causes of energy blockages: emotion, nutrition, changes in the weather, environment, wrong medication, and injury. The practice of Qigong removes the energy blockages so that Qi can flow naturally and heal us.

Meditation

Gull Lake Area
Meditation is the act of quieting the mind so one can open to the unconscious (containing a vast resource of healing, wisdom and guidance) within the self. There are two styles of meditation, that being passive and active. Passive meditation simply means to focus on one thought, or a few thoughts, to clear the chatter of one's mind, in order to open to the resources within. The active style of meditation is akin to self-hypnosis and may involve positives suggestions that can take, for example, a variety of forms. One can use music or guided meditations (through self instruction or from a teacher or various recordings of guided meditations) often found on CDs or tapes.
